Karen has 25 years yoga teaching experience and for the last 20 years she has studied mindfulness, focusing mainly on the MBSR training of Jon Kabat-Zinn, and she has a daily Buddhist practice. She has also been practicing Chinese medicine and Western nutrition for over 20 years.
She is a passionate and dedicated teacher of yoga, breath, mindfulness, health and life coaching. She is a fully qualified yoga teacher in the method and teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, (Certified as a Training School of Yoga with Yoga Alliance International) with qualifications in anatomy, physiology and pathology, and with invaluable experience of working with osteopaths and physiotherapists which has given her a thorough understanding of the spine and physical problems.
Karen started exploring yoga seriously in 1993, after leaving a career in film and tv in South Africa, and with many years’ experience in a variety of dance styles. She started out with Ana Forrest’s Yoga in Los Angeles, where she committed herself fully to this wonderful practice. Returning to Brighton in the UK in 1994, she tried a variety of yoga styles before she found this innovative and & approach to yoga, through Peter Blackaby. She felt that she had finally “come home”. She has since continued to learn and study with the teachers that were taught privately by Vanda Scaravelli, and in recent years, more intensely with Sandra Sabatini. Karen has also worked closely with yoga teachers who are osteopaths as well as chiropractors, which has given her a deeper understanding of the spine, postural alignment, and safety. She continues, through her own practice, to explore and discover new wonders of the body and mind. She has dedicated the last 21 years of her life to the practice and sharing of this exploratory and profound approach that brings joy and peace to her life....hence luvyoga.com iloveyoga.com!
